Is Your Car A Lemon? Answer These 3 Questions to Find Out
In California, a ‘lemon’ is a new or Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, purchased or leased, that requires repeated visits to the dealer for the same issue. If a manufacturer cannot repair the car after a reasonable number of repair attempts, then it must refund the consumer’s money for the defective product.

FAQSWe’re Here to help
Read More FAQs What is lemon law?
Lemon Law protects consumers who've purchased or leased defective vehicles that the manufacturer can't repair after multiple attempts. If your vehicle qualifies, you may be entitled to a refund, cash settlement, or reimbursement for related expenses—at no cost to you.
How much does it cost me to hire an attorney?
Nothing out of pocket. Under California Lemon Law, the manufacturer pays your attorney fees if you win. At Quill & Arrow, we work on a contingency basis—so if we don't recover compensation, you owe us nothing.
How much is my lemon worth?
If your car is a lemon, the manufacturer must either replace it with a new vehicle or buy it back from you. They are also required to reimburse you for any incidental and consequential costs incurred during the repair process. If the manufacturer willfully violated the law, you may be entitled to additional compensation, including a civil penalty of up to two times your actual damages, as well as reimbursement for attorney's fees and costs.
What can I be reimbursed for?
You may be reimbursed for your down payment, monthly payments, repair costs, registration fees, rental cars, towing, and more. In many cases, clients walk away with a refund or cash settlement that exceeds the vehicle's current value.
Can a used car be a lemon?
Yes—if your Certified Pre-Owned car is still under the manufacturer's warranty and has recurring defects, it may qualify under California's Lemon Law. Our attorneys can review your documents and determine if you're eligible for compensation.
Why does it matter which firm I choose?
Not all firms are equal. Quill & Arrow files and litigates every case to maximize compensation, while others settle quickly for less. Our aggressive, trial-ready approach consistently gets clients the results they deserve.
